Atlantic Foods goes Carbon Zero
Atlantic Foods, leaders in sourcing the finest products from around the world has gone CarbonZero. As part of their commitment to the environment, Atlantic Foods have reduced their carbon footprint to a minimum and offset their remaining carbon dioxide emissions through investing in carbon reducing projects around the world.
The company is supporting energy efficiency projects in Africa which can save or absorb the equivalent of Atlantic Foods' carbon footprint; making the company CarbonZero and helping to halt climate change and global warming.
Nigel Parkes, Joint Managing Director, Atlantic Foods explains, "Reducing environmental impact is an increasingly important issue to both us and our customers. We have invested in projects that provide local African communities with solar ovens and energy efficient stoves, which not only reduce deforestation but the amount of firewood burned and as a result the carbon emissions. We felt this was good opportunity for UK foodservice to do its bit for the environment as well as help to feed the third world."
